In brief: Some activity

You do not have to have a specific injury to cause a meniscal tear. Sometimes the meniscus can degenerate and tear from repetitive activities such as running basketball and other pseudotraumatic sports i would work a lot on strengthening and plyometrics to help prevent further problems.
