Emergency Medicine
In brief: Ob/peds/anesthesia?
If you are close to due date and there has been no complication during pregnancy, the the OB will be sufficient mostly, if there are complications for the baby (detected on monitor or very early pre-term), there may be a neonatal pediatrician present and if there are problems with pain or need for operation, you may have an anesthesiologist readily available.

In brief: Yes
Neonatalogists or pediatricians who specialize in the care of premature infants will examine the baby and determine whether or not the baby needs to go to the neonatal intensive care unit.
