Is there a connection between lupus and pseudotumor cerebri?

In brief: Possibly
There does seem to be an association between lupus and pseudotumor cerebri.
But the association may be spurious and related to cerebral venous thrombosis (lupus is often associated with hypercoaguability) or side effects of corticosteroids which are used sometimes to treat lupus.

I did just have a pt whose initial presentation of lupus was pseudotumor cerebri. They happen in separate entities more frequently, but they can be associated as Dr. Bowers indicates.

In brief: Yes it can
It can occur with the lupus and it can occur with therapy like steroids.
