In brief: Many ways
Skin cancer can range from a minor problem (a small bump or growth to be burned or cut off) to a life threatening issue (deeper melanomas).
Early detection and treatment is key. If you think you may have a skin cancer, get it checked out!

In brief: Depends on type
Squamous cell and basal cell skin cancers rarely have spread elsewhere in the body, sometimes to lymph nodes in squamous cell.
Most are small and frozen or removed by the dermatologist. Others are resected by a surgeon or radiated. For melanoma surgery is the main cureative treatment. However melanoma can spread to other parts of the body. Depending on where it spreads is where the symptoms are.

In brief: Depends
Squamous cell and basal cell carcinomas typically grow locally and do not travel to other locations in your body, although it is possible.
Melanoma can travel to any location in your body and create new tumors.
