Is breakthrough bleeding and/or bleeding between periods normal?

Yes. Hormones regulate your menstrual cycle and nearly all women will have some irregularities to their menstrual cycle at some point in their lives. However, breakthrough bleeding can be a sign of hormonal imbalance, a polyp or fibroid, or even pre-cancerous cells in the uterus. I would recommend evaluation by a physician for break through bleeding.
