In brief: ASk him

Does he want help? If he does not sadly there is not a lot you can force on him as he is an adult.
If he is open to help make an appointment with your physician and/or a psychiatrist. You may also find that acupuncture and chinese medicine help by helping the body balance...Again only if he goes and is compliant. He may also benefit form medication. I am also a big fan of prayer.

In brief: HE NEEDS TO WANT IT!

Tough with this dual diagnosis situation.
Need to treat both but has to have some desire for sobriety or it will not work. Inpatient programs are hard to find for substance abuse but there may be some dual diagnosis programs.

In brief: You cannot

Addition and recovery has to be initiated by the person them-self.
You can understand how to cope with these issues by understanding how to set boundaries and learn what you can accept in your house and what you would like not done in your presence. Learn what is detachment and attend 12 step program to learn more.

In brief: Dual Diagnosis

There are specialists who work withdual diagnosis.
Many addiction professionals have limited training in serious psychiatric illness, and though substance abuse is common in psych disorder, this is often neglected in mental health training. A clinical psychologist or psychiatrist with sub abse training would help. Her are some faqs: http://cpancf.Com/articles_files/dual%20diagnosis.Doc.

In brief: U can't help him unl

U can't help him unless he want help , and if he want he has to commit himself for sobriety, since without that is difficult to make an accurate psychiatric diagnoses and recommend the wright medication.
So first step have him admitted to a substance abuse unit , hopefully he can maintain sobriety and there he can see a psychiatrist for diagnoses and treatment . Good luck.
