In brief: Way too many reasons

A bad tasteor smell could mean an infection.
But it could also mean that you aren't brushing and flossing enough. Also, the bad taste could be coming from your stomach and the foods you eat. Try a thorough cleaning of your mouth, go to a dentist and make sure all is ok...And try watching what you eat for a few days. Oh yeah and cleaning....Brush your tongue too.

In brief: Possibly

It is not a for sure thing that you would have an infection but those symptoms common for an infection that is draining such as an abcess.
You may want to have a dentist take a look for you.
