Generally, how long should I wait after my hernia surgery before exercising?

Days to weeks. The recovery time varies with the size and location of the hernia and the method of repair. The most common hernia operation i perform is via the laparoscopic approach. I encourage my patients to return to their baseline aerobic activities as soon as possible, typically within 7-10 days. In general, i advise against heavy lifting for 3 weeks.
About a month . I generally have my patients resume light activity in about a week. But they are to avoid heavy lifting or strenuous activity for at least a month. But every surgery is different.
Six weeks. Or longer if the surgeon states. Depends on the type of surgery and repair.
4-6 weeks. This will allow tissue formation, scar remodeling and strengthening.
