Asthma or COPD. Advair is a combination of an inhaled steroid and a long acting bronchodilator. It is used in asthma when an inhaled steroid alone is not adequate to control symptoms. The combination is usually more effective tha doubling inhaled steroids. It is also used in copd. The long acting bronchodilator part can cause heart racing.

Yes. Advair is intended for maintenance although used in europe as a controller drug. If your asthma is persistent, you need to use it regularly since the optimal response is not reached until after 2 or more weeks.
