High blood pressure is the single most important risk factor in preventing multi-infarct dementia. A good diet, exersice, quitting smoking, etc. can be helpful, but often antihypertensive medication is needed. Test your blood pressure regularly and talk to your doctor if it is high.

In brief: Possibly
Avoiding and controlling diabetes and high blood pressure may help prevent mid.
Also, getting exercise, proper sleep and nutrition are likely important. Those things that are good for your heart are also good for your brain. Possibly education and learning new things may be protective also.
