3 doctors agree

In brief: Nutrition

Aam deals with biochemical aspect understanding of nutritional issues/deficencies of each medical condition.
Geriatrics deals with prevention, promotion, preservation and independence but little training on nutrtional management. Both aam and geriatrics do manage what we call successful aging.

Anti-aging medicine the way that I was trained , starts when a woman plans to get pregnant ( what to eat , all do and don't prior to getting pregnant) then during pregnancy and continues all life, focusing on healthy eating, the right type of exercise, specific supplements if needed, hormone replacement therapy when there are signs and symptoms of hormone deficiency and labs confirm it, so it has

anti-aging medicine has a wider spectrum and covers all stages of life but Geriatrics deals with specific issues with aging, preventing medical issues from happening is more effective and less expensive than treating a medical condition after happening, that is what anti-aging medicine does for all different stages of life to have a healthy aging and stay active with a better quality of life

In brief: Yes; great question!

Both are about increasing healthful (or at least comfortable) lifespan, but anti-aging takes a more preventative approach by teaching and emphasizing lifestyle choices such as excellent nutrition, exercise and hormone optimization, while geriatrics focuses more on the management of diseases of aging.
Anti-aging, also called Age Management medicine, has incorporated Regenerative medicine.

In brief: It's bogus

Geriatrics is a branch of medicine (like pediatrics) anti-aging medicines are a fraud .
There's no pill you can take that will reverse the wear & tear of time, misfortune, or your own bad habits. Plenty of hucksters will be happy to sell you miracle cures, however.

Anti-aging medicine is not a fraud. There are a number of approaches that are scientifically tested--hormone receptor sensitizers (like metformin); cross-linkage inhibitors (like aminoguanidine); anti-oxidants like lipoic acid); hormone replacements (DHEA and melatonin); lipofuscin inhibitors (like DMAE and Centrophenoxine) have demonstrated life-extension in experimental animals.

The above-mentioned substances have likewise demonstrated clinical benefit in humans. I agree that there are many hucksters who claim to be in the field. Hormone replacement with testosterone and growth hormone play a small but important role. Geriatrics treats the diseases of aging. Anti-aging medicine not only treats but attempts to reverse or prevent the factors that cause the disease.
