In brief: Sick sinus syndrome
Sick sinus syndrome is a cardiac conduction disorder where the hearts spontaneous pacemaker, does not send its electrical impulses quick enough to keep the heart beating as fast as your body requires.
It results in the heart rate becoming too slow, not getting fast enough during exertion, or waiting too long to spontaneously restart after a fast heart rate. Can be treated with pacemaker. See doc

In brief: Pacemaker
If it is well documented sss ( sick sinus syndrome) is treated with a pacemaker ( to prevent the heart to go to slow and stop or have a syncope) and after that .
..Medicines are given to slow the heart rate & prevent the heart to go too fast.

In brief: Pacemaker if severe
Sometimes medications can help, but problems often progress to a point where a pacemaker is needed.
