In brief: Walk in, walk out
Generally, this refers to a center where can get either regular scheduled or urgent walk-in care.
It is usually a stand-alone center--not hospital based. At least 50% of hospital emergency dept visits are unnecessary, extremely expensive, very impersonal, very scary, and take away effort and funds for true emergencies. Triage those 50% to centers or community docs..And another $100b+ saved.
