Elderly and children. Hyponatremia or low salt level in the blood can cause confusion among other problems. Everyone whose blood sodium drops low enough ( especially if a drastic shift) will be symptomatic but the elderly and young children are most vulnerable both to having the condition and being symptomatic.
Older women. Although every individual is at risk to develop hyponatremia, older women and pregnant women in particular are most at a higher risk to develop hyponatremia. Hyponatremia usually occurs to individuals who are hospitalized.
