In brief: Dont know

If the bed has a mechanism to turn the patient & change position every 2 hours then it would work since it requires 2 hrs or less of pressure to create a pressure area on a dependent site.

In brief: Not really

The best defense against most all bed sores is frequent turning of the patient so the body does not lie in contact with one area of the skin against any surface.
However the development of bed sores is also influenced by many other factors.

In brief: Not alone

There are a wide range of special mattresses.
The basic ones do little to prevent sores. Then there are the air mattresses where the pt is sleeping on a cushion of air. This works much better. But insanely expensive. Really the best help is frequent changing of position to prevent prolonged pressure on one spot for more than 1. - -2 hours. Tempurpedic mattresses won't turn the patient.
