In brief: Death

The death rate from Dengue fever is < 1%.
However, the death rate from Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever is 2 to 5% if treated & up to 50% if untreated. After 3 to 5 days of Dengue fever it may transition into it's hemorrhagic form. Death may occur in 12 to 24 hours after shock sets in.

The question was about Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever which has up to a 50% death rate if untreated. Dengue Fever has < 1% death rate.
