Does hepatitis affect the white blood cells like HIV do?

No. Hepatitis is usually caused by a virus that infects the cells of the liver and causes inflammation and damage. Hiv is caused by a virus that infects and destroys certain types of white blood cells (t cells or cd4 cells) that are an important part of the immune system. There may be some changes in the white blood cell count as the body reacts to hepatitis, but no permanent immune cell damage.
