In brief: Work with your doc

Work with your doctor to ensure that your thyroid labs are in the target range to ensure your metabolism and energy level are at their best.
After that, it's up to you to watch what you eat, and exercise to burn more calories than you eat. Lifting weights can help build muscle gradually which can increase your metabolism & help with the weight loss good luck - it can be done!

In brief: Diet/exercise

Thyroid disease does not affect the weight loss equation.
Eat less and exercise more. If you are on thyroid replacement mak sure your th is in the low normal range. Diets are not good methods for long term weight loss. Need to change lifestyle and approach and sustain gradual loss of about 1 lb / 1-2 weeks.
