In brief: Black "poop"

Generally three things can cause black stools---taking iron tablets, peptobismol, or bleeding in your stomach.
A lot of green veggies can also but not black in color. If you feel sick or weak seek medical care.

In brief: It depends

It could mean it is from something you ate, for instance peptobismol will cause black stools.
Or it could mean you have blood in your stool. If your stool is black, very foul smelling and very sticky this could be what doctors call "melena" which means you are bleeding from your GI tract.
