If I have prostatitis, what can I do before seeing a doctor?

Anti-inflammatories. Acute prostatitis is usually a bacterial infection of the prostate that should get prompt evaluation and treatment. Before you see your physician, you can start some anti-inflammatory medications like Ibuprofen to relieve pain, speed the clearing of inflammation, and liquefy prostatic secretions. Note your symptoms such as fever, and difficult with urination. Don't delay your evaluation!
