Is it safe to do track and field with a herniated (slipped) disk?

In brief: It depends.

Herniated disks are actually common, even in people without spinal pain.
In most cases movement within normal range of motion is good for a disk. If you have a symptomatic fresh disk hernia, you should see your primary care doctor. If a good trial of non-operative treatment, including exercise therapy is not helpful, then ask to be referred to a physiatrist (not psychiatrist).
