In brief: Hair Gland:oil/sweat

There are a variety of sources for red bumps that typically originate from the hair follicles or oil gands in the labia.
Sweat glands may also become diseased (known as hidradentitis suppuritiva). See your physician if this becomes worse or does not resolve within 10 days.

In brief: Abscess

Sounds like you have an infection.
These might need to be drained in the office and most of the time people have to take antibiotics for the abscess to resolve. You can try sitz bath 4-5 times a day to see if it would help it resolve. If the bump is more inside the vagina then it can also be a bartholin gland cyst versus abscess.
