In brief: Colon? kidney? gyne?

Diverticulitis commonly causes sharp left lower abdominal pain, inflammatory colitises can cause symptoms.
Obstruction. Constipation. Kidney issues. Herniae? Ovarian cysts? You should see a doctor if it has lasted longer than a few days or if it is severe and limiting your daily activities.. There are other causes as well and you may require a ct scan or colonoscopy to help sort them out.

In brief: Many possibilities

There are many possibilities in addition to intestinal problems.
Some can be in the abdomen (ovary, bladder), some can be outside of it (hernia, other muscular or bone problems) or general (bladder infection). There are only a few possibilities. Consult your doctor if you need to figure out what it is.
