Is it normal to feel light-headed, and have numb arms, hands, and legs when very upset?

In brief: Hyperventilation

When you are very upset, you may breathe very quickly, even if you are crying or sobbing.
This rapid breathing can cause you to lose to much carbon dioxide too quickly. That is what give you the symptoms you describe. Putting a paper (not plastic) bag over your mouth and nose can help reverse the co2 loss and resolve the symptoms. If they symptoms persist, call your doctor!
