In brief: Fecal-oral

This is generally hard to do.
Usually other family members or friends/co-workers get infected by the same source as the original person (i.e., contaminated food). The most common way to transmit from person to person is poor hand hygiene in which the virus or bacteria is transmitted from someone's hands to another person's hands or clothes. That person then unknowingly ingests the pathogen.

In brief: Gastroenteritis

Stomach flu can be transmitted by eating infected food or liquids or through contact w an infected person.
Wash your hands well for at least 20 seconds often. Don’t touch your nose, eyes or mouth without clean hands. Don’t share the same cups, forks or spoons. Use disinfectants on solid surfaces. Bring sanitizer with you when you are out. Try to avoid contact with people who are sick.
