How can you get rid of a callous on your toe?

In brief: Reduce pressure

A callus is because the skin is being rubbed between a hard surface on the outside(like your shoe) and the bone on the inside.
If you reduce this friction the callus will slowly disappear. Sometimes this is very difficult to do depending on where the callus is located. If there is a bone spur(bump of bone) under the callus it can sometimes be reduced by surgery.

In brief: Palliative.

If it is not caused by an underlying bone spur, then using a daily lotion and pumice stone to scrape away the callous tissue ahould help.

Podiatry

In brief: Have it evaluated

Make sure the shoes have a high and wide toe-box.
You may need a special topical moisturizer, and you may benefit with us of a pumice stone or an emory board. Consult with your podiatrist and determine the best approach for you.
