How can toxic shock syndrome be prevented?

Avoid some tampons. Staphylococcal toxic shock syndrome is a very serious/ lethal condition caused by a very potent toxin (tsst-1) produced by some strains of staphylococcus aureus. In women it is best prevented by avoiding high absorbable tampons.
It's rare. TSS is very rare. Toxic shock syndrome (TSS) is a condition caused by bacterial toxins. Symptoms may include fever, rash, skin peeling, and low blood pressure. Rarely women may get TSS from having a tampon in too long (>12 hours), or having another foreign object in the vagina for a long time.
