In brief: Chest shoulder pain

This is the area innervated by the 6th cervical nerve from your neck.
If doesn't resolve or if you notice weakness, tingling or numbness, or pain into your arm have evaluated. There is also something call biracial neuritis that acts similar. Also the shoulder blade has a portion in the front that the pec minor attaches. Pain from shoulder causing shoulder blade to move abnormally can cause this.

In brief: Maybe

Several possibilities: pleurisy, lung injury, punctured intestine, heart, etc.
A very common cause for pain in this location , however, though not serious, is extremely painful: a dysfunctional rib. Pain is often front & back. Md's almost never make this diagnosis, but osteopathic docs who do hands-on diagnosis & treatment, in addition to doing all the other work-up, often find & treat this.
