Can you die from rubella?

Almost never. However, it is several days of misery, and if you are pregnant, it is likely that your unborn child will end up blind and/or deaf and/or seriously deformed and/or mentally handicapped. Before immunization, when one girl in a community came down with "german measles", all the other girls would be invited to a slumber party with her in hopes they'd catch it and thus be immune.
If you are a fetus. Except for disease in a fetus acquired from the mother in the first trimester of pregnancy, rubella is a mild disease without any serious issues.
