Can viral meningits be spread from one person to another?

Viral meningitis. Some forms of viral meningitis can be spread from one person to another, for instance polio or herpes. Other forms of viral meningitis are insect born. A key to avoiding spread from an infected person is careful hand washing.
Sort of. The viruses that cause viral meningitis, e.g. Cocksackievirus, herpes, hiv, mumps, etc., can be spread from one person to another. However, the way in which these infections manifest in different people can differ from person to person, so not all of the people infected will get meningitis.
