The whi study carried out by the nih in the last decade found an increase in the rate of breast cancer in women taking Medroxyprogesterone acetate (mpa) plus mixed conjugated equine estrogens, but not in women taking the estrogen alone.
This casts suspicion of mpa but it certainly does not prove that it increases the risk of breast cancer. It does not increase the risk of breast infections.
