Are there acute and chronic forms of creutzfeldt-jakob disease?

No. This is an awful and fortunately extremely rare form of a deadly disease. Cjd is thought to be caused by a protein called a prion. The long and short of it....There is no cure.
No, just subacute. Once started this prion infection steadily progresses to inevitable demise, and seems to affect mainly middle aged adults. So truly a fairly rapid course over a few months. If mad cow disease, that is more indolent and slower, and may even involve kids, but that is a different type of prion infection with a longer course. Unfortunately, both problems have limited treatment.
