That response is actually not accurate. You can start your pill any time during your cycle ( this is called quick start) and it will be effective one week after starting. You should use back up (like a condom) for one week, if you start your pill any time after the first week of your cycle. one month is unnecessary. Remember the first day that you get your period is the first day of your cycle.
