Is lisinopril 10mg a blood pressure pill?

Yes. This medication is by prescription only and is in the class called ace inhibitors. This medication works at the kidney level and is a very good anti-hypertensive. It has collateral uses, too. 15-18% of patients taking this medication may develop a dry nagging cough. A very commonly used anti-hypertensive medication that is very easy on the pocketbook!

I just took my 20mg pill of lisinopril rite now. How soon will it start to lower my blood pressure?

Difficult to say. You take the pills and it will vary as to the effect on your blood pressure. Depends on your activity and what you have been doing. Usually these can have an effect as soon as 90 minutes but if this is a pill you have taken it will take over time to actually lower the blood pressure and depend on multiple factors. The importance is in taking it on a regular basis as prescribed and then follow BP. Read more...

My blood pressure has been erratic over the last 2 days. I take 10mg of Lisinopril once every day. Can I increase the dose?

Use guidance. Blood pressure is something that needs to be managed but not micromanaged. You do not need to immediately react to blood pressure changes that have no symptoms. Seek out immediate medical attention for severe headache, chest pain, shortness of breath, vision changes, dizziness, or weakness. Make sure you notify your physician and discuss changes before making them. Read more...

Good evening. My average blood pressure 24 hr reading was 169/99 I took 2 Lisinopril 10mg. Blood pressure now dropped to 114/71 in 36hrs????

BP meds. This is an expected drop in blood pressure after taking lisinopril. The efficacy of blood pressure medications depends on the cause and can be variable between patients. This is on the higher side ("high" drop in blood pressure). If you have symptoms of LOW BP (dizziness, blurry vision, weakness, nausea, sweating) then you may skip the next dose and notify your doctor. Kudos for monitoring! Read more...
Confer with doc. I am very concerned that your 24 hr reading was so high but it's good that it came down to 114/77. However, my biggest question is where is your prescribing provider in all of this?? He or she needs to be informed of how high your BP was and I hope he/she was involved in the decision of you taking 2 lisinopril. It's dangerous for you to make those decisions on your own. Please see your doc!! Read more...
