One natural way. Agree w dr. Kam. Neti pots can reduce nasal congestion. Mix ¼ tsp salt w 1 cup lukewarm water. More salt can also be used. Place solution in neti pot. Tilt head & pour solution into 1 nostril. Blow nose lightly & spit out any liquid that drains into throat. Repeat on other side. This can be done in the evening before you go to bed & again in the morning.
Variable. Nasal congestion can be caused by allergic rhinitis, deviated septum, nasal polyps, common cold and combination of the above. Treatment include steroid or antihistamine nasal spray, decongestant/ antihistamine pills, surgery. See an ENT doctor if problem is persistent!
Triad. The triad of nasal saline irrigation, nasal steroid spray and antihistamine often results in dramatic improvement of nasal obstruction and drainage. Adding a temporary decongestant is also effective. Persistent symptoms may indicate structural issues, refractory allergy or infection. See an otolaryngologist for evaluation with persistent symptoms.
Best treatment for stuffy nose for 1y.o. baby when she has cold. No fever, no other running nose, just stuffy.
Nose. Generally just a saline spray or gentle saline nasal irrigation. Vaporizer at night may be helpful.
3mo baby w/RSV. Cough is resolving but stuffy nose sounds worse. Albuterol-nebulizer treatment plus saline solution atomizer. What can I do?
Saline. You can add some normal saline infant nose drops with a bulb syringe to clear her nostrils. I am glad to hear the cough and lower respiratory issues are decreasing, she is on the road to recovery. Also, give her extra fluids, pedialyte.
