Are there any benefits to chinese herbal medicine?

Yes. Both Western medications & Traditional Chinese Medicines can be beneficial. You must be cautious about what you use however. I try to be aware if I am taking a TCM medication that utilizes a rare or endangered species (like rhino horn or rare sea horses). Sometimes can contain contaminants (such as mercury in shark).
Use both. In some cases there is nothing better than a pharmaceutical medicine and it produces miraculous results that would not be possible with herbal medicine. I think the best approach is the integrative medicine approach and use the best of both.

Can try both . First, to some degree this depends on what type/degree of diabetes you have- if you are Insulin dependent please do not forego insulin! if you have type 2 (adult onset) you may benefit from chinese as well as western herbal medicine, as many herbs & nutrients have been proven to have benefits in treating diabetes. But it is not either/or- you can do herbs while using western medicine. See comment:. Read more...

My doctor said I have thalassemia, he said I can not consume chinese herbal medicine included medicated oil. Is this true?

Ask your doc why? I dont think there is any correlation between thalassemia and chinese herbal medicine. Perhaps your doctor talked about chinese medicine in different context. It is always wise to know exactly what you really take and what possible adverse events associated with it. Many times, we don't really know what is inside herbal medicine and that could be dangerous. I think, it's safe for medicated oil. Read more...
