Interestingly, water itself can be the culprit for dry-itchy skin.
Prolonged time in pool can cause the natural oils on the skin to be removed causing dry skin (xerosis) which can cause itch. Limit time in the water then moisturize often (e.g. Baby oil). Hope you are better!
