When to use lotion with acne medication? Does that help or make things worse?

In brief: Depends on the type

Using a "non-comedogenic" facial lotion or moisturizer will usually not give you problems with acne breakouts.
However, everyone's skin is a bit different so you will not know until you give it a try. Also, use "oil free" facial moisturizers as this will also help.
