Eczema. The cornerstone of treating eczema is maintenance of the moisture status of the skin by using moisturizers. For worse cases, steroid ointments maybe applied. In your particular case, washing your arms less frequently will also help. A bedtime routine of applying a thick moisturizer on your arms and encasing them will also help.
Moisturize/cortisone. To treat mild to moderate eczema, Hydrocortisone 1% cream (use a thin coat on the rash, twice a day, for 5-10 days) is cheap, found at most stores, and works well. A daily moisturizing cream used 2-4 times a day helps to heal eczema & to prevent return of the rash. Examples: cetaphil, cerave, eucerin. Some people avoid creams with lanolin, aloe, or fragrances due to sensitivity to the ingredients.
Protect. Avoid things that make you break out, soaps & wetness. Wash your hands only when necessary. Wear gloves when needed. Wear clothes made of cotton. Bathe only with a small amount of mild unscented soap, such as dove. Keep the water temperature cool or warm, not hot. Use the medicine your doctor gave you. Use a plain moisturizer daily. Avoid scratching or rubbing the itchy area. Manage stress.
I'm currently on the Accutane, and one day I woke up with rashes on my face and both arms. Did Accutane cause rashes? If yes, how do I get rid of it?
It is a side effect. Your rash can be caused by acutane. It is important that you avoid irritants such as sun during this time and stay moisturized. You should also show your rash to your current prescribing doctor.
I have golfers elbow in both arms but I don't play golf. I do play a racket sport (right arm only) and do weights. What is cause and how to get rid?
Elbow pain. This is irritation caused by elbow use from any sport and will respond to a tennis elbow support 1inch application below the elbow, an anti-inflammatory daily and rest for 10 days.
Elbow pain. Lateral epicondylitis----flexor strain and restriction of the radial head usually if your are weight training with dumb bells---you are using the weights that are too heavy or too many repetitions---mostly bad form. Do some push ups or light weight ---good form bench presses---it will correct the radial head and symptoms will go away------use motrin or nuprin (ibuprofen) as directed.
Golfer's Elbows. Playing racket ball and lifting weights affect the same muscles and ligaments involved in golf. Ideally, you should rest those ligaments and muscles for 6-8 weeks.
Ihave eczema on my arms and I was prescribed hydrocortisone. Now I have eczema again and I have dark patches on my arms. How do I get rid of it quick?
Hard to tell. Since hydrocortisone actually lightens the skin, I presume that the dark patches are residual from the original skin rash or from your scratching. Since the resolution of the rash depends on what the disease condition is, it would be impossible to estimate a recovery time. A dermatologist can Rx a combination cream to reduce the pigmentation but it usually improve in a few weeks only its own.
