In brief: Not usually
Usually the symptoms of thalassemia are the same as anemia due to other causes.
You should be evaluated by a doctor, preferably a hematologist who can help figure out the cause of your anemia.

In brief: About the same
Thalassemia is a chronic anemia.
Patients who are not anemic enough to need transfusions (such as a hemoglobin of 10) should feel about the same whether they are anemic from thalassemia or chronic iron deficiency. Many other diseases cause anemia over a shorter time than lifelong thalassemia, so people with other anemias may feel worse (they aren't used to living with anemia).
