Classic Symptoms. Urinating and drinking water excesively, weight loss, despite adequate or excessive eating, lack or diminished energy all happening within 2 to 3 weeks. The younger the child the faster the symptoms come. A priorly toilet trained child might start having accidents in bed and a toddler might make so much urine that it might spill from the diapper.
Crescendo. Almost always type 1, symptoms will include: increased thirst and urination. Also at night where bed wetting accidents can happen. With this acid buildup nausea, dehydration, abdominal pain, maybe change in mental status as part of diabetic ketoacidosis, a medical emergency.
