There are many foods and herbs that can work for reducing inflammation in the body. Some that work on the same pathway as the NSAIDS (aspirin, ibuprofen) are turmeric, ginger, rosemary, green tea, the quercetin found in onions and apples, hot peppers and omega-3 fatty acids. However, these are best when part of an overall anti-inflammatory diet and good gut health. If the inflammation is from osteoathritis, try adding SAMe plus a B-complex vitamin. One caution - SAMe should NOT be taken by anyone who has bipolar disorder. Start wtih 400 mg/ day on an empty stomach, increase as long as you still get more relief, as most people end up on 800-1600 mg/ day. Since it is not inexpensive, look online for discount sources.
