Can I nurse if I have the flu?

In brief: Yes

Since flu (influenza) is transmitted through secretions from respiratory tract, not through breast milk, it is safe to breast feed.
Using face mask while nursing or in close contact with infant would be prudent. Most of the over-the-counter fever reducers and painkillers are safe as well.

In brief: Yes

Since influenza can be contagious 1or 2 days before the classic symptoms present, in all likilihood, mom has already exposed her nursing infant to the flu.
Yet, continued nursing can allow the mother to share her escalating immune response--known as antibodies--with the baby through her breast milk. This assumes that mother despite being ill is not dehydrated and can maintain adequate milk flow.

In brief: Yes

Absoutely yes! there is no problem with you nursing while you are sick or specifically have the flu.
In fact, the baby will get some immune protection from you in the form of specific antibodies in the breast milk. As long as you are careful to cover your mouth and wash your hands thoroughly before and after feeding you should be fine.
