In brief: It's a crustacean.

There are 2 kinds of shellfish - crustaceans & mollusks.
Lobster, shrimp, prawn, crab & crayfish are crustaceans relatives of insects and characterized by having claws. The other group of shellfish, the mollusks, include clam, cockles, oyster, mussels, scallops, snails, squid, octopus & calamari. If you are allergic to crustaceans you may not be allergic to mussels and vice versa.

In brief: Yes

Lobster is a shellfish, as is crab, prawn, crawfish and shrimp.
Unless you have spoken with an allergist about it, if you are sensitive to shrimp, you should also avoid crab and lobster.

All of these delectables are crustaceans. They are related to insects and are characterized by having claws. The other group of shellfish are the mollusks that include clam, cockles, oyster, mussels, scallops, snails, squid, octopus & calamari.
