In brief: Heel pain

A well padded shoe with a rubber sole works best.
A sneaker is usually best. I prefer new balance. More often than not a dress shoe with a heel is better that a flat.

In brief: Very few

Z-coil and shape-up/rocker bottom type shoes seem to be the best.

In brief: Arch support

Shoes with improper support may be one cause of your foot pain.
Try wearing properly fitting shoes with good arch support.
