In brief: 3 modalities

There are 3 modalities to treat cancer- surgery ( if localized and if possible to be done) .
A radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Treatment of cancer can use only one modality or could require combination of 2 or all of the above- depending on the type of cancer, the stage, the goal of therapy and overall condition of the patient.

In brief: Yes. Depends...

Expanding on what others have said, the main options for treating cancer are: 1) chemotherapy (cytotoxic/classical vs.
Newer/"targeted"), 2) surgery, 3) radiation. Other therapies include: 1) endocrine therapy (could be considered a chemical=chemo therapy in some sense), 2) immune therapy - eg cancer vaccines, monoclonal antibodies (also a targeted immune therapy, stem cell transplant, 3) other.

In brief: Surgery & Radiation

Surgery and radiation treatment are two other major modalities of treatment.
Some times watchful waiting, i.e. No treatment, is an option, e.g., in cases for prostate cancer in older men.
