How can one with fibromyalgia lift weights?

Gradual. In fibromyalgia, the muscles are normal but the perception of pain is abnormally increased. Lifting weights is a great way to break the pain-inactivity-more pain cycle. The key is to start with no weight or little weight and go through a very modest routine of the weight lifting motions. Every two sessions, increase the weight lifted but only in small increments. Many fms patients feel better.
