Collaborative health maintenance is critical to your health.
If you smoke, you should stop. There are guidelines and recommendations as to who should undergo testing/screening. In brief: Screening CTcan help
Low dose screening ct can reduce mortality due to lung cancer by as much as 20%.
Some centers are implementing this technique. Check with your local hospital or medical center. See the national lung screening trial research team n engl j med 2011; 365:395-409august 4, 2011.

In brief: CT scan thin cuts
Is better to stop smoking.
Ct scan if having chest pain, coughing blood, loosing weight. Annual ct is not a good practice in general practice (only done in large cancer center if b/w age 54-79, 30 yr pack history & other strict research criteria . Still the positive results are < 4%). Screening ct is no good bc lung ca grows so fast. Kills more than colon breast & prostate together.
