In brief: Specialist

Today's dermatologists can use laser resurfacing, dermabrasion, or a variety of other treatments.
Some hollywood actors who want to play "tough guys" have actually cultivated these scars, but you do have a choice. I'm glad you're proactive and hope you can get the treatment that's right for you.

In brief: Fractional Resurface

Laser therapy with a fractional resurfacing can work wonders for acne scarring.
Not all patients respond, but I have seen fantastic results with fractional resurfacing in my practice. Multiple treatments are always required, but durable, tangible results are achieved.

In brief: TOPICAL AND SURGICAL

Start by using a broad spectrum sunscreen to prevent photo damage that would prevent the replacement of the dermal collagen.
Then use a retinoid to stimulate dermal volume replacement. If the scars are not too old or very deep, this topical program may be sufficient to reduce the appearance of the scars. If necessary, chemical peels, intense pulsed light treatments, or lasers can be performed.
