Of all the benzo antianxiety meds I have found xanax to be the most likely to cause dependence. This is due to it lasting only 4 to 6 hours, so people feel it wearing off and feel the need to take more. This can cause worsening of panic. This is especially a problem in the am. I use the longer acting Klonopin or if xanax the XR version. Xanax is ok if not used daily.

Agree. Also would like to add Ativan to the formula since it has shorter half-life.
